Day 5.... My favorite memory...
OK OK OK... how do you pick ONE favorite memory. I have lived a few years and I would have to say that my life has been filled with many great memories. So I can't really pick just one. Especially the past several years of my life.
Meeting Cameron and knowing within days that I would marry him.
Having Cameron kneel down on his knee in front of the Idaho Falls Temple asking me if I would marry him and promising that we will be sealed together forever.
The day I became a member of the Henke Family. Our wedding day... Courtney and Derek were so young and precious. I LOVE THEM!!!
The day that Cameron and I FINALLY made it to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple to be sealed. Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to wait be sealed together.
FEBRUARY 25, 2010... what another amazing memory. To look into the eyes of my son and know that I finally was a mom. To feel the love that I immediately had for that little stinker. To feel his little hand wrap around mine and know that he loved me too!
BUT....
The memory that I want to write about is the memory that I have of my
GREAT GRANDMA PETERSON!!!
OH, how I loved the lady.
I don't think there is another person that can even come close to comparing to her.
What a spirit she had.
What compassion and love that she had.
I remember as a little girl driving up to her house in Idaho. She lived on this street that had a small ditch where the water would constantly run all summer long that was in front of her house. We would stay out there for hours catching water skippers and we would make cucumber boats and have races.
I can still remember the smell of her house.
She would have the grandchildren sleep up in the attic. I remember the stairs we had to take to get up there. They were so steep and narrow. It was always so cold up there but she would pill the blankets on top of us. Then in the morning we would all scamper down the attic stairs to have her homemade breakfasts. She was such an amazing cook.
Another memory that I have is her garage out in the back. There was always this old brown car that was parked there. It would never move and years later I found it she had this car but never got her license.
I loved to play in her backyard on her cloths line.
After she passed away my mom got her old dining room table, buffet, and hutch. I can still after all these years open that hutch and smell my grandma.
My great grandma and grandpa Peterson had to wait to get married until my grandma's youngest sister got married. She promised her mother before she passed away that she would look after and take care of all the children. That is what kind of lady she was. She always put others first.
