Pinewood Derby '10

Derek had his first Pinewood Derby on Tuesday. He was so excited!!!!
Cameron and Derek spent a lot of time together getting this car just right. Derek sat down and designed it on paper first. There was a lot of paper and eraser but after what seemed like forever... he got it just they way he wanted it.
I thought the sketching of the car took a long time... that was before the paint job. He knew exactly what he wanted and how it was to be done.
He got a Silver Metal and this certificate
Watching each race and then turning back at the information board to see what place and how fast his car went. The joy on his face was priceless He is already talking about how he is going to do his car next year. Where he needs to place the weights so he gets 1st place.
Here is one race... far right end

Mohawk Faceoff....

THE FACE OFF....

About 9mo ago, Cameron decided that he wanted to cut
his hair that he had been growing out into a mohawk.
Well, the other day I was asking Derek when he was going
to cut his hair, because it started to look a little shaggy.
Well his response was when it is long enough to cut it
into a mohawk like dad did. So tonight was the night....

Here are all the kids wanting to get into the action. As you can tell his hair was getting pretty long.

One side down...

Two sides done...

Rock on DUDE...

Even as a punk he is the cutest!

Finished product...

Here are the TWINS, 8 years apart. We thought it was cute because now they have the same hair cut.
I want everyone to know that Cole, really does smile!!!!
Tonight was a lot of fun, filled with tons of laughter. It are nights like tonight that we will all remember. We need to remember to let our hair down or maybe "our hair up" and enjoy the small things in life. Being a together as a family. Family is what is important. I am so grateful for my family. We are all so different but it is those differences that make our family circle!!!
So let you hair up and spend sometime with the ones you love!!

2 months... TODAY

For Cole's 2 month celebration I dragged him to his very first photo shoot.
I liked it just as much as his father.
I am doomed!!!
I think they turned out cute. Wish he would have smiled more and not looked like he is was total agony!
FUNNY KID!!!
Love this one...
Cole is our little blessing!!!

This is what I was talking about... total AGONY, look at his expression on his face!
PURE HORROR!

COLE @ 2 months old...

***Loves to be outside
***Recognizes his mom. This makes mom's heart skip a beat.
***He travels fantastic.
***STILL loves his Binky
***He is a little wiggle worm. He loves to wiggle and giggle!
***His new name is chubs. He is becoming such a chunky monkey! We will find out his weight at his two month check up next week!
*** Loves to be wrapped up soooo tight for bedtime, we call it his mummification.
***Loves his babysitter (so does mom). She is heaven sent!! Thank you Brandie!
***Gets so excited when he knows it is time to eat. The look on his face when he sees that bottle is priceless.
***Has found his hands and fingers. He tries to put his WHOLE hand in that little mouth of his!
***Cooing and tell us all kinds of stories!

Family Night Out

For family home evening tonight we went and hit a couple of buckets of balls at
Thanksgiving Point Golf Course.
Courtney and Derek loves to golf just about as much as dad. I made sure that I even got the little guy in the picture.

We don't know what made him start to eat his hand, and at times the tries and eats his WHOLE HAND. I think it is so cute (FOR NOW) I asked him if it tasted like chicken and the cutest thing is... he answered me! He answered with a coo and a gurgle... but he answered!
Dad hitting his bucket, with Cole cheering him on!
This was the view that Cole and I had watching them practice putting

Dad showing Derek on how to putt with keeping his eye on the ball. As you can tell he isn't using his clubs. Wonder if he played like this all night if he would be able to stand up straight!
It was a great night, followed up ice cream from Scaddy's.
I really look forward to the Monday's that we have Courtney and Derek. We put all our troubles and work behind us and just spend quality time with them.
I want to personally testify of Family Home Evening. Our family is stronger and closer because of it.
I just want Courtney and Derek to know how much I love them. They are both amazing kids, and I don't know what my life would be like without them in it.
I thank my Heavenly Father on a daily basis for giving me the opportunity to have them in my life. I am so blessed that he trusts me enough to be their "mom"

Spring has SPRUNG

I can't believe it!!! It finally feels like spring outside. It came just a month late, but better late than never!!

So with the good weather outside, I took full advantage of it and took Cole out to enjoy his first warm day!
**He seemed to LOVE, the sunshine.
**He turned his head towards the birds chirping.
**He cooed and laughed at the passing kids coming home from school
**He was so relaxed he feel asleep half way through.
With the sun so bright, he had to sport his SHADES!!!

The Blessing of Cole Ryan Henke

Cole has had a FULL weekend.
He met a lot of his cousins in the last couple of days. Not sure what he thought about all the chaos that was around him. It was a full house and lots of little hands that wanted to kiss, hug, love and hold him.
All the craziness was for him. In our church we have a priesthood ordinance that gives a name and a blessing to babies. It puts their name on the records of our church. Today was his special day.
We are so blessed to have so many people come and support us. I am so amazed at the love that we have felt from friends and family members.
THANK YOU!!!
So cute in his white little outfit. I was so worried that he would throw his first real fit during the blessing, but he did so good!
Gotta love that face....

Mom, love her little angel

The proud papa

Grandma Black, Aunt Hailey, Uncle Dallas and their families came to celebrate with us this weekend.
Dad, Cole, Mom and Grandma Fisher

COUSINS.... 1 day apart!!
My Aunt Janet was able to write what Cameron said during the blessing. I will make sure that I put those words in his book. Something that I would love to look back time and time again and see what Heavenly Father has in store for him.
I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be a member of
THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
That through the priesthood power we can be blessed from our Heavenly Father. I am just so grateful that he has he trust in me to be the mother of one of his prized spirits.

Easter

Easter 2010...
This was the first Easter since Cameron and I have been married that we didn't have the kids for Easter. So we celebrated it the Monday after.
This year Easter was on the same weekend as our church's
General Conference. It was nice to spend the day listening to our Prophet and leaders and reflecting on our Savior and the sacrifice he did for each one of us.

The Easter bunny didn't leave a hunt this year. We thought that all the eggs would of been stepped on, eaten or gone bad before the kids got home. Cole is still a little young to grab all the eggs and treats that he would of left behind!

Not sure why I didn't get Courtney alone.... oops!

The simple things...

I never realized that something so small and simple could bring me such
JOY... I love the way that Cole grabs my finger when he eats. The simple jester of holding my hand makes my heart grow more and more for this little guy.

LOOK AT THOSE TOES...

I LOVE COLE'S TOES...

I don't think there has been a day that has gone by that I haven't kissed and played with his little toes. When I am feeding him I have to take off a sock so I can watch him wiggle them around.

Take a timeout today and look around for the simple things that make you happy, that bring you joy!

OH, THE JOY OF THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE
