Father's Day

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

This year we had a really quiet Father's Day.
I just want to tell Cameron thank you for all you do as a father to Courtney, Derek and Cole and what a great husband you are to me!

These kids love you!!!!

This boy loves his daddy.... or mama is his name right now!
We are trying to get that all figured out but right now dad and mom are "mama"

Utah Fires 2012

UTAH FIRES 2012

440 fires have been started this year in Utah.
There were two that hit really close to home.

The Eagle Mountain Fire (The Dump Fire I think is what they were calling it)
This was started by someone out target shooting.
With this one they evacuated 1000's of homes and in the evacuation was our old house in Eagle Mountain.
It was crazy how big this fire got.  The Friday I went to go pick Courtney up for girls camp as we were standing there it looked like it was snowing the ash was so bad.
It was hard to be outside because the smoke was so bad.

This was the view from our bedroom window

This is what the sky looked like from our driveway.  This is when I left to go get Courtney

Then this was the Alpine Fire.
This one is still burning I think??

The Dirty Dash

THE DIRTY DASH
MIDWAY, UTAH

Cameron and I have been wanting to do this race called
THE DIRTY DASH
since we heard about it last year!
So when it was time to register we jumped at the chance and recruited a few of our
FUN, ADVENTUROUS, LOVING, DIRTY FRIENDS

We came up with the name
Their Mothers Were Mudders!
So we decided to wear some tight clothing because we didn't want to leave anything behind in the mud pits.
I found these socks and headbands and all the guys were good sports about it.
Once we got going and then we all realized how SMART it was to wear tall socks!
I was pretty proud of myself.

So here we all are right before the start of the so called
MUD BATH!

AND...

HERE we are after the 3.25 miles of mud and obstacles.

There were all sorts if obstacles... mud pits, mud slides, rope climb, walls, tall walls, hurdles, more mud pits, snow making machines with water hitting you full blast, hay bails, logs, pipes, more mud pits, mud slides, HUGE mud slides, and best water slide ever and then finally at the very end an even bigger mud pit and mud slide!
They told us to stay as a group so we would finish as a group... and what a fun group and a fun time we had by all!!

I would say that after it was all said and done Pat and I were the muddiest of the mudders of our group!
My mud was due to my husband that pulled me down the very first mud pit and I hit it hard!

I don't think it would have been as fun if I didn't have this guy running by my side!!!

Same with this girl!!!
I am soooooo glad that her and her husband Steve decided to run with us!!!

Here is the beginning of the race.
You can see the hill that you start off running up right at the very beginning.

Here is the end of the race and right before that YELLOW FINISH line thing is a huge mud pit that we all either jumped in or slid in together.  I loved it that Steve did a canon ball right at the edge of the pit and got a lot of the spectators with mud!!! That wasn't the first canon ball either!  You can see all the people running down the hill towards the big mud pit!

Here is a picture of the HUGE WATER SLIDE!!!
This was probably the best part of the whole thing.
IT WAS A BLAST!!!! Until the end when everyone slammed into everyone at the bottom.
I would say that this is probably one of the funnest things that I have done in a really long time.
The invitation is out for the next race
~~SEPTEMBER 22~~
WHO IS IN WITH US!!!

Big Boy on Campus

Who is the big boy??

I have been trying to decide when it was a good time to make the switch from crib to twin bed.
The other night I asked Cole after his bath if he wanted to sleep in a big boy bed.  He was so excited but I am sure he didnt know what was in store.
Well we got him all tucked in, his blankey and his puppy with a sippy cup of water.  Everything a BIB BOY 2 year old needs getting ready to sleep in a bed.
I gave him kisses and hugs and then waited outside the door to see if he got out.
Well the little stink bug did get out but that is when I opened the door and put him right back into his bed gave him a little chat about not getting out of bed.  That he is a big boy now and that big boys stay in their beds.
Well the talk worked he didn't get out of his bed.
Then about 10 pm Cameron went in and checked on him and there he was sitting in the corner of his bed... totally awake not know what is going on.
He had no idea what to do, he just knew he couldn't get out of his bed.  So I went in gave him a huge hug and put him back in his crib.
Then next night Cole wanted nothing to do with is crib.  He just wanted the big boy bed.
Well I can say know that it has been a little over a week and this bugaboo is made the transition to crib to bed with no problem.
Still to this day he thinks he cant get out get out of bed.  He waits for us to come and get him out.
Shhhhhh... don't tell him!!!

This was after the third night in his bed... decided to just take down the crib.  He didn't need it and I wanted to start to organize and make room for his TOYS!!!
So here is the big boy helping his dad take down the baby crib!!!
NO tears were shed.

COLE LOVES HIS DAD!!!!!

Color Me Rad 5K

COLOR ME RAD
5K
FAMILY TIES

I heard that my cousins and their kids were doing this 5K race at the campus of
Utah Valley University.
As you run you slowly turn into a rainbow of color!
I thought it sounded so fun so I asked them if I could join their team.

We met up with each other the evening before the race and picked up our Pre-Game Packets.
Which consisted of a T-shirt, Sunglasses and a color packet!
We were all excited to experience this event!

We all met bright and early at the campus wearing PURE WHITE!!!

Here are my cousins.  Stephanie, Mandie, Me and Chris!
Wearing our AWESOME...RAD...SUNGLASSES
They gave us

Here is the group of us getting ready to run!
We were all so excited!
It was so much fun to just be there and experience all the excitement!
It was a PARTY!
COLOR ME RAD knows how to have fun!

Here were are at the finish line!!
So how the race works is you start out at the starting line.  As you run you reach different
COLOR STATIONS.  This is where rows of people bomb you with color powder and hose you down with color spray!  We weren't expecting the spray but that is what made the race.
There were 5 color station and each station was a different color. The people bombing you with color were called
COLOR BOMBERS!!!
You can see the people in the background that are in yellow...
THOSE ARE THE BOMBERS!!!
So as you progress through these stations you get more and more colorful!!!

We took a picture with one of the bombers.  Then right after this picture he went crazy and tags us all... he had the black paint.  Out least favorite one!

Here we are in all the Colors of the rainbow!!
We were so grateful for those AWESOME...RAD sunglasses.  They saved our eyes but at the end of the day we couldn't even see out of them.

Here was one of the best part of the day.  Every 10 minutes after you cross the finish line people gather together and they have a countdown.  Then all at one everyone throws their color packets up in the air or at each other.
We did that three times!!!

Getting ready to head home and figure out how I am going to make it home without totally destroying the car.
Oh you should of see some of the looks I got from people on the freeway!
It was a great time by all...
We are totally going to make it an annual tradition.
So if you want to join in on the fun and see what it is like to REALLY taste the color of the rainbow...
join us!
On to the next race, THE MUD RUN
Then in August we are doing a run that is totally made up of FOAM!!!
What a fun way to get your run in!!

BEST SALAD EVER...

YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!!

I would have to say that I came across the best salad that I have eaten in a long long long time.
Spinach, black beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, cilantro, balsamic vinaigrette, and Italian seasoning.
IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!
I would say that the only think I would add to it would be some grilled chicken maybe a few red onions.
It is packed full of PROTEIN!!!
